Readings

The method our reader works from.

A card reading is only worth having if the reader is not making it up as it goes. This page is what each card means to ours, word for word. When a card is drawn, the reader is given the text below for that card and nothing else about it.

How a card is read

Every card has two parts. Its number or face says what kind of moment this is. Its suit says which part of life the moment belongs to. The reader combines the two, in the position the card was drawn, and then reads all the cards together as one story.

The cards reflect; they do not predict. A reading is a way to hear your own thinking, and it is offered for entertainment and reflection.

Draw your cards

The four suits

Spades (swords)
Frequently linked to difficulties, challenges, obstacles, loss, and sometimes transformation.

The numbers, Ace to Ten

Ace
Represents new beginnings, potential, opportunity, and the start of something fresh. It signifies the core essence of the suit it appears with.
Two
Associated with partnership, duality, balance, choices, and interaction. It often indicates a connection between two entities or a decision point.
Three

Nine
Represents completion, fulfillment, attainment, and near the end of a cycle. It suggests reaching a culmination or achieving goals.
Ten
Signifies completion, finality, culmination, and the end of a cycle, often leading to a new beginning. It represents the full expression of the suit's energy.

The face cards

Jack
Often represents a messenger, a young person, or someone who is immature or unreliable. The specific meaning can vary greatly depending on the suit.
Queen
Typically embodies a feminine figure, often representing emotions, intuition, nurturing, or a specific type of woman in the querent's life. The suit will influence the type of personality or situation.
King
Usually signifies a masculine figure, often representing authority, control, leadership, or a specific type of man in the querent's life. Like the Queen, the suit will add layers to the interpretation.

The three special cards

Our deck has 55 cards: the usual 52, two jokers and a blank. Each of the three extra cards stands for one tarot card.

The Fool (red joker)

Upright
When "The Fool" appears upright in a reading, it generally signifies the start of a new journey, a call to embrace change, and an urging to take a leap of faith. It suggests a period of excitement, optimism, and the exploration of new possibilities. It can encourage you to break free from routine and embark on a new path with confidence.
Reversed
A reversed "Fool" card often advises caution. It can suggest recklessness, carelessness, distraction, or a lack of commitment to a new endeavor. It might indicate a need to find balance between spontaneity and responsibility, or that one is disregarding the welfare of others in favor of impulses. It can also point to a lack of potential being seized or missed opportunities.

The Magician (black joker)

Upright
When "The Magician" appears upright in a reading, it signifies a time of great potential and opportunity. It suggests that you have the skills and resources to achieve your goals and that now is the time to act with confidence and determination. It encourages you to tap into your talents, be resourceful, and manifest your desires.
Reversed
A reversed "Magician" card can indicate a lack of focus, willpower, or self-belief. It might suggest that your talents are being wasted, or that you are feeling powerless or indecisive. It can also warn against manipulation, deceit, or the misuse of power. It may be a sign to re-evaluate your goals and approach, and to reconnect with your inner strength.

The Sun (blank card)

Upright
When "The Sun" appears upright in a reading, it is a highly auspicious sign. It heralds a period of great joy, personal growth, and success. You are likely to experience clarity, vitality, and a strong sense of well-being. It can indicate successful ventures, fortunate relationships (including marriage), and a generally positive outlook on life. It encourages you to embrace your authentic self and shine brightly.
Reversed
While still retaining some positive essence, a reversed "Sun" card suggests that its powerful positive energy might be somewhat diminished or blocked. It can indicate temporary setbacks, a lack of clarity, low vitality, or feelings of sadness or pessimism. It might also warn against false impressions, an inability to see the good, or being overly confident to the point of recklessness. However, even reversed, it often implies that any challenges are transient and can be overcome with persistence and a renewed optimistic outlook. Some interpretations suggest it could mean a delay in success or a need to confront uncomfortable truths.

Reversed cards

Any card can land upside down. The source we work from gives reversed meanings only for the three special cards. For every other card our reader treats a reversal as the same meaning blocked, delayed, inverted or turned inward. That rule is our own addition, and we say so here because it is not in the source.

Where this comes from

The method was collected from public writing on cardomancy and tarot. These are the sources it names.

This page is generated from the same files the reader is built from, so the two cannot disagree. If you think a meaning is wrong, select the sentence and leave a comment. We read every one.

Readings are offered for entertainment and personal reflection. They are not financial, medical, legal, or psychological advice.
